The Viberg Service Boot is a direct descendant of the original model, first introduced in 1931. This iconic design was also adopted by various nations as the standard issue military boot during WWII. However, Viberg's quintessential Service Boot draws its inspiration from the Canadian military's WWII Service Boot pattern.
In a first-time collaboration with Viberg, we are proud to present these exceptional stitchdown boots featuring premium French boxcalf leather from Tannerie d'Annonay, available in warm brown. Located in Annonay, France, the tanning industry in this region has a rich history dating back centuries, with a calf leather tradition that extends as far back as the 12th century. With Tannerie d'Annonay's expertise in producing boxcalf leather since 1838, it's safe to say they are masters of their craft. Tannerie d'Annonay is renowned for producing world-class calfskin of various types, all of which are of the highest quality and intended for some of the world's finest footwear brands, now including Viberg. This particular makeup features their Vocalau French Calf, a full-grain calfskin with a luxurious boxcalf feel and a smooth, consistently beautiful natural grain with a glossy finish, crafted specifically for premium footwear. What makes this tannage unique, is that it is a semi-aniline leather, which allows a degree of natural grain transparency, which gives the skin colour depth. Annonay also uses traditional glazing jacks, which is a mechanical glass arm, used to polish the leather, giving it a very high shine, similar to Shell Cordovan. However, don't let the dressier leather fool you; These Viberg Service Boots are built to withstand rugged wear thanks to the Ridgeway outsoles, which feature thick protruding lugs and large ridge channels that offer great traction and stability. Despite calfskin's reputation for elegance, the high-quality full-grain nature of this Vocalau hide ensures durability is never a concern. Like all Viberg boots, these have undergone over 200 handcrafted steps and passed rigorous quality inspections at Viberg's Victoria workshop.
The signature double-row stitching on this Service Boot is exclusively hand-crafted using Viberg's Stitchdown construction method. Viberg has a long and storied history of producing Stitchdown logging boots suitable for the wet, harsh climate of the Pacific Northwest. The turned-out vamp causes water and dirt to be wicked away, stopping moisture from entering the boot and keeping your feet dry in almost any condition. Each pair is finished with our signature refined details, such as brogue cap toes, and fully tonal french binding, eyelets and hooks, and British-made Ridaeway soles.
All Viberg Service Boots are available in a single E width, and we recommend sizing down one full size from your standard US sneaker size or Brannock measurement. If you have wide feet, consider going down half a size. Viberg sizes fit more closely to uk rather than US sizing.
Viberg, a renowned Canadian footwear brand since 1931, is celebrated for its craftsmanship, top-tier materials, and durability. Whether it's a service work boot or a stylish Chelsea, Viberg represents quality, heritage, style, and functionality in footwear
